On February 29th, 2024, a cultural and spiritual Native American two-spirit and environmental nonprofit organization called Uniting Resilience celebrated its grand-opening at 705 East Watertown St.

Born out of the vision to reconnect with Indigenous heritage while advocating for LGBTQ2S rights and environmental justice, Uniting Resilience has represented empowerment since opening its doors in October 2021. As the first of its kind in the region, the organization has decolonized societal norms, advancing LGBTQ2S (Native two-spirit) equality and advocating for environmental sustainability.

Reflecting on their accomplishments, a representative from Uniting Resilience commented, "Uniting Resilience created the blueprint for the success of Native two-spirit and LGBTQIA individuals, opening more doors for personal growth and development. Honestly, if this organization had not existed, we are unsure how our vision trajectory would have turned out."

Uniting Resilience collaborated with the South Dakota Coalition during the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, working to end domestic and sexual violence.

The organization expressed its pride in being part of the Rapid City business community, stating, "We are proud to be part of the rich culture and diversity here in Rapid City and to be doing our part to support and uplift the citizens of Rapid City and its surrounding communities."

Congratulations to Uniting Resilience for beginning a new chapter towards building a more inclusive and sustainable future!
